第五部影片的开端是一场蹩脚而尴尬的婚礼，而高潮则与百慕大三角的秘密有关。

杰克船长一行人要寻找三叉戟，而他父亲(基思·理查兹饰演)则掌握着重要的信息。

这一集的新反派布兰德船长(Captain Brand)，同样想要拿到三叉戟，以向杰克复仇。

布兰德船长认定是杰克将自己的弟弟埃里克变成了海盗，并直接导致了后者的死亡。

这一集中，杰克船长迷上了巴博萨船长的女儿瑟瑞娜·史密斯(Carina Smyth)，她一度被人们误认是女巫，但实际却是一位杰出的女天文学家。
